Don't Let These Common Problems Put Your Dodge B350 on the Side of the Road

Your B350 is a beloved van of the Dodge B series, a classic of the 1980s and mid-1990s that nobody should miss out on owning, let alone converting for work or van life.

It had some issues during its career, though. Here's a few you should look out for, especially if you're doing any upgrades.

1. Defective AC

If the AC and heater in your B350 are switching to defrost when you speed up, then most likely, the problem's a vacuum leak. This is a known issue for models from between 1990 and 1994 with 90,000 miles or fewer. You'll have to fix the leak, and probably replace the vacuum check valve.

2. Faulty Engine

If your B350 has either a 3.9-liter V6 or a 5.9-liter V8 engine, and you're hearing ticking, hammering, or knocking noises coming from it, then most likely, carbon buildup on the piston's causing it. This is a known issue for models from between '90 and 1993, at any mileage. Usually, all you need to do is clean the fuel injectors, but if that doesn't work, they may need to be replaced.

3. Bad Fuel System

If your B350 won't start, there's a good chance that its fuel pump has failed. This is a known issue for models from between 1992 and '94, at any mileage. The entire fuel pump module will need to be replaced, including its two fuel filters.
