Factory MOPAR Brake Pads
Mopar Brake Pads FAQ
When Should I Replace My Vehicle's Brake Pads?
When you see the signs that they've worn down to the brake calipers (or that the calipers are damaging the brake rotors). These include a brake warning light on the dash, whining sounds, vibrating, and grinding when braking, and trouble slowing down. Otherwise, every 40,000 to 50,000 miles. Check your owner's manual's maintenance schedule for specifics.
Can I Change Brake Pads Myself?
Yes, all you'll need is a jack and jack stands, a lug wrench, a C-clamp or caliper spreader tool, and a tool set with Torx or Allen bits, in most cases. Fresh brake fluid, too, if the tank needs topping off. Be sure to use OEM brake pads for the job.
How Much Does Brake Pad Replacement Cost?
Usually, anywhere from $260 to $300 on average. It can depend on your make and model, though (and whether you have the job done at a Mopar service center). For a Chrysler 200, for example, between $265 and $340 or so. For a Dodge Charger, however, anywhere from $260 to $275 plus. For a Jeep Grand Cherokee, $360 to $380 or more; for a RAM 1500, $300 or so to $330 or more, and so on.
Why Should I Buy OEM Brake Pads and Not Aftermarket?
They'll be Mopar-quality, the kind you're used to from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM. Plus, fit's assured, and they'll work the way they're supposed to the first time. They won't void your factory warranty, either, unlike a lot of aftermarket brake pads.
