Mopar Spark Plugs FAQ
How Can I Tell if the Spark Plugs in My Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM are Bad?
From engine misfires, the leads on the spark plugs seeming to have widened or corroded, and the plugs not conducting electricity as well.
How Much Does Replacing Spark Plugs Cost on Average?
$215 to $280 or so, per RepairPal, whether basic copper or higher-performance platinum or iridium, good for 18,000 miles or 100,000. Getting them replaced at a Mopar service center can add another $130 to $170, though. Cost can even vary by model; spark plug replacement for a Dodge Challenger, for instance, with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or otherwise, may run $330 to $440 or more total.
Can I Change a Mopar Spark Plug Myself?
It's easy. Here's how. Just some safety goggles, work gloves, and tools (a set of socket wrenches, a wire gauge spark plug gap tool, a socket swivel, anti-seize thread and dielectric silicone compound, and an extension bar), and start with a cool engine. Double-check your owner's manual on what to do.
How Can I Help My Spark Plugs Longer?
Clean them regularly with a cloth (or use compressed air to blast debris off). Scrape the firing ends with fine-grit sandpaper, and then use a wire brush to scrub the threads. You can even just spray brake cleaner on the plugs and wipe them off.
