Factory MOPAR Door Sills
The ordinary-looking crosspieces at the bottom of most vehicle door frames are called door sills. The simplest aren't much more than plates, usually decorative. Some, however, can also show off a model's name or its trim level. Those with tap-in power lines behind them often illuminate a sill area, highlighting a brand or its logo in turn. Whatever the variant, however, each has an important job.
Take door kick plates and sill protectors, for example. Both keep a vehicle's sill clean, not to mention keep it from wearing out from a lifetime of entries and exits. Door sill seals are another example. They help prevent water and debris seepage into your cabin. Sill enhancements, though, can make any sill more attention-getting. Examples of these include molding, trim, and even appliques.
When to change door sills depends on a couple things: how visibly worn out they are and how damaged or broken they are.
