Factory MOPAR Fuel Filters

Mopar Fuel Filters FAQ

When Should You Change the Fuel Filter in a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, or FIAT?

About every two years or every 30,000 miles. Otherwise, when you see the symptoms of one failing.

What are the Signs of a Bad Fuel Filter?

  • A Check Engine light on the dash
  • Engine lag and misfires
  • Your vehicle shuddering as it idles
  • A clogged fuel pump
  • The fuel system having trouble moving gas through the fuel injectors

How Much Does Fuel Filter Replacement Cost?

On average, $160 to $200. The filter itself runs $80 or $90, but the labor involved in the swap can add another $80 to $100. Other fuel system repairs you might have to do at the same time can also run up a bill, as can your ride having two filters to change -- one for the main fuel line and one for the fuel tank. Even whether you drive a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, or FIAT can make a difference.

Can I Change a Fuel Filter DIY?

With the right skillset, it can be pretty straightforward. Usually, all you'll need for the job are:

  • Some safety equipment (goggles and work gloves)
  • A jack and jack stands
  • Tools like socket or open-ended wrenches, a flathead screwdriver, and some needle-nose or hose clamp pliers
  • A couple shop rags or towels and a drip pan
  • Penetrating oil (for loosening any rusty fasteners)
  • Thread sealant

Otherwise, have a Mopar service center take care of things. Be sure to use OEM either way.

Why Buy OEM Fuel Filters, vs. Aftermarket?

Unlike aftermarket fuel filters, they'll be genuine Mopar -- top-quality. That means they'll fit your ride right the first time. Best of all, though, it means they'll work better, and without voiding your factory warranty.
